As Researcher & Editor you will play a key role within the creative and editorial process. You will be able to extract insight from the data and analysis available and use this to help shape the key messaging and narrative structure for the project. You will maintain attention to detail at all times — particularly during the editing and proof reading process — to ensure that there are no errors in the final product that undermine the amount of effort and thought that went into the project. You will use your experience and communication skills to build upon our current research and editorial processes so that we continue to meet our standards and exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

— Working with the strategy, creative and business development team to agree on the audience, purpose and format for each research output
— Ensure guidelines for reporting research findings are adhered to and that all project documentation is accurately filed and labelled
— Shape the narrative structure, ensuring clarity of message and consistency of tone per company brand guidelines
— Ensure all copy has been checked and meets the guidelines set out in our house style guide, including spelling, sentence structure, grammar and punctuation, as needed
— Assist in office administration where required including answering phones, booking couriers and general office tidiness
— Provide general support to Company Directors

Required Experience

— 5+ years experience in similar role
— Outstanding writing and editing skills, matched with strong capacity to exert leadership in a team environment.
— Proven experience editing for a range of audiences (e.g. retail, research, government) and formats (e.g. print, digital)
— Proven capacity to understand and extract insights from research data, both qualitative and quantitative
— Strong knowledge of local and international development, preferably with familiarity of the role of media and communications in development
— Post-graduate qualification, preferably in a subject directly relevant to the thematic priorities of our organisation
— Familiarity with the planning, layout, design and production of publications
— Mac literate
— Project management system experience viewed favourably
— SmartSheet experience viewed favourably
— InDesign skills viewed favourably
